need some help with point slope form , ill post the question below

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

Which is an equation in point-slope form for the given point and slope? Point: (2, -6) ; Slope: -3/4 A. y - 6 = -3/4(x + 2) B. y - 6 = 3/4(x - 2) C. y + 6 = -3/4(x - 2) D. y + 6 = -3/4(x + 2) will medal and fan for some help

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

@pooja195

pooja195 (pooja195):

\[\huge y-y_1=m(x-x_1)\] where m=slope (x1,y1)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

so would it be A? just plug in the numbers like last time?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Almost when you have 2 negatives together it becomes a positive try again. :)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

D?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Nope ok what us our y value?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

-6

pooja195 (pooja195):

ok good and our x value is?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

2

pooja195 (pooja195):

Good -6 is the only one that needs to be changed to positive not the 2 \[\huge~\rm~y--6=-3/4(x-2)\] Ok now answer your question :)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

so its C?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Yes! :)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

ok thanks i have a few more if you dont mind

pooja195 (pooja195):

I can help you out ^_^

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

What is the point-slope form of the equation of a line that passes through the point (3, 5) and has a slope of 2? so would this one look like this since there all positive? y + 3 = 2(x + 5)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

or would there be a - instead of a + for both of them?

pooja195 (pooja195):

It would be - because we don't have 2 negative numbers in a coordinate

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

ok thank you

pooja195 (pooja195):

yw ^_^

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

Which equations are equations for the line shown? Choose all answers that are correct. A. y - 4 = -1/3(x + 2) B. y + 2 = 2(x - 5) C. y - 1 = 1/3(x - 5) D. y + 2 = 1/3(x + 4) https://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1511000_1511500/1511273/1/8cb79430986ea09dc1933c14b634c7da7ba42cf8/MS_IMC-140804-180203.jpg

pooja195 (pooja195):

You wouldn't even need the graph for this just take the 2 coordinates and find the slope first

pooja195 (pooja195):

Need help?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

i believe the answer is a and c?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

hello? pooja?
