hi!! yay!!
OpenStudy (misty1212):
actually i changed my mind sorry
look at the first one again
OpenStudy (misty1212):
since \(16+19=35\) if you laid those two lines end to end, you would not get a triangle, you would just have a line
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
i was iffy about that one. SO it can't be the same number? It has to be more?
OpenStudy (misty1212):
yes

alright can you help with the bottom. Im not sure how to get them.
OpenStudy (misty1212):
the sum has to be bigger than the third side, or the third side has to be less than the sum of the other two
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
Okay
OpenStudy (misty1212):
use the second part of what i just wrote, that the third side has to be less than the sum of the other two
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
so 9?

OpenStudy (misty1212):
so for example, if you have \(5\) and say \(3\) then the third side has to be less than \(8\)
OpenStudy (misty1212):
you mean for the first one?
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
yeah i get it.
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
yes
OpenStudy (misty1212):
careful here, you are about to make a mistake i think

the first one says 5, 5, x right?
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
how? 9 is less than 10
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
yes
OpenStudy (misty1212):
yeah, 1 is less than ten also, but 1 won't work
also there are a lot of numbers less than 10 that are bigger than 9
for example \(9.5\) and even \(9.999\)
OpenStudy (misty1212):
so we know \(x<10\) not \(x<9\)

actually 1 will work, forget i said that part, just make sure you know that "less than" just means "less than" not "less than one integer less"
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
nut it wants the range of numbers. would it be 1-9
OpenStudy (misty1212):
no, it would be \(0<x<10\)
OpenStudy (misty1212):
shall we try the next one?
OpenStudy (misty1212):
"number" does not mean "whole number" unless it specifies that

okay
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
would the next one be <13?
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
wait wouldnt the first one be greater than 0 less than 10? you put less than 0 less than 10
OpenStudy (misty1212):
yes that would be the first one
OpenStudy (i_need_help_please):
okay
