Note that the probabilities should add up to 1.00. Do they? There is a formula applicable to this problem. In effect, you're calculating a "weighted average." For each of the grades, 1 through 6, multiply the grade by the fraction associated with it. For example, multiply the grade 1 by the decimal fraction underneath it (0.54), obtaining 0.54. Do this for the other 5 grades. Then add together the six products. The result is the average grade.
