OpenStudy (flvskidd):

I just have one question involving point slope form

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find the slope with the slope formula \[\large \sf m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}\] and then substitute into the point slope form \[\large \sf y-y_{1}=m(x-x_{1})\]

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

slope = -3/1?

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

substituting into the formula i got y-6=-3(x-0)

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

pretty sure i did something wrong or the answer is right in front of me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The y_1 and x_1 in the point slope form are not LITERALLY x_1 and y_1, they are just any known x,y coordinate on the line. In this case, they want you to use 1,3 instead of 0,6.

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

y-3=-3(x-1)

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Hey, that's an option! Is it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry for the late reply, yeah that looks right
