Can someone help me with this question please? I don't want a direct answer, I want to understand how to complete the problem and how to get to the answer. Thanks! Heinz boasts that he can predict the degree of a polynomial function just by looking at the end behavior. Can Heinz do this? Explain. Thanks again for helping!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

He would be able to predict whether the degree is even or odd?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Was that a question directed at me @SolomonZelman ?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I forgot "right?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Indeed one could determine whether the graphed function were even or odd simply by looking at the end behavior.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right, because when it is odd, it goes up to the right, and when it is even is goes up to the left, correct?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

^ Yes, he could determine whether the degree was even or odd, but he couldn't determine the actual degree

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

*arrow was meant for mathmale's comment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, thanks guys. So the answer is he could tell whether the degree was even or odd, but not what the degree is, correct?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

I believe so :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, thanks. @sleepyjess Can you give a medal to @marieblossom16 ? @marieblossom16 can you give a medal to @mathmale ? @mathmale can you give a medal to @SolomonZelman ? @SolomonZelman can you give a medal to whoever you thinks deserves a medal? Thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cause you all helped lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks again!

OpenStudy (marieblossom16):

ha sure
