I will give me a second
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ok, This was as far as I got
\[x=\frac{ 7+9y }{ 4 }\]
and
\[y=\frac{ 8+4x }{ 6 }\]
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
nooooo
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
i dont think you know how to solve these equations...
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
4x - 9y = 7
-4x +6y = 8

My teachers suck.
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
looking at these equations, 4x and -4x cancel each other out
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
(we're combining the equations together)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OHHHHH, ok Haha, I think I know what I was doing wrong, but continue.
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
-9y + 6y = -3y

7+8 = 15
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
-3y = 15
divide each side by -3
y = ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
-5
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
and that is your "y"
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
so which of all the options offers -5 as the y?

thats your answer :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OHHHH, ok, that makes so much more sense!!! I understand what I was doing wrong now. So that makes A. the correct answer
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
yup :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thank you, my teachers...which are videos suck at teaching.
RhondaSommer (rhondasommer):
normally you would place your "y" into the equation and get x as well but that question didn't have two answers were "y" equaled -5 :)

Yeah, that makes sense, thank you so much!
