OpenStudy (korosh23):

Why sin (pi) = 0 ?

OpenStudy (korosh23):

On the graph it is 1, and I don't understand why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean for the red or blue graph?

OpenStudy (korosh23):

blue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, so multiplying the inside of the sin function changes the period of the function, in this case sin(1/2x) doubles the period of sin(x). This also means that when you plug in pi, you get:\[\sin(\frac{ \pi }{ 2 })=1\] Think of it as stretching out the sine graph.

OpenStudy (korosh23):

so you mean the rad graph is becoming the blue graph

OpenStudy (korosh23):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, one is not becoming the other based on the question given, but the red graph is a reference graph to the base graph of y=sin(x), and the blue graph is the red graph stretched over a period that is twice as long, which is y=sin(1/2x)

OpenStudy (korosh23):

ok I understand, thank you
