OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

what is the graph of the absolute value equation? y=|x-5|-4

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

will definitely medal

OpenStudy (dannyo19):

Do you know what the graph y=absolute value of x looks like?

OpenStudy (dannyo19):

Do you need to graph it or describe it without graphing?

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

i have to choose one of those four

OpenStudy (susanna):

The graph of y=|x-5|-4 looks like a V, with the bottom point (5, -4)

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

how do you know if you dont mind me asking

OpenStudy (susanna):

I know how the parent function looks --> y=|x| --> a V with the bottom point at the origin (0,0). Then it was translated 5 units to the RIGHT (-5 part), and 4 units down (-4 part).

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

so is it (-5,-4) or (5,-4)

OpenStudy (susanna):

it's (5,-4) because from (0,0) you moved 5 to the RIGHT and 4 down (into the negative).

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

ohh okay thanks susana :)

OpenStudy (susanna):

sure

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

could you help me with another question?

OpenStudy (susanna):

I can try

OpenStudy (susanna):

can you close this one and open a new one?

OpenStudy (elvisiscool69):

yeah lol
