Bret wants to plot a graph to show the prices of different numbers of skateboards. He has to plot the following points: (1, 49.99), (2, 99.98), (3, 149.97), (4, 199.96) Which of the following best describes how the y-axis should be labeled? medal and fan
i am lost
Hmmm.... Lets first round off the points... Now we see that the x-intercept which is x in (x,y) is rounded to a whole number... but the y-axis isnt and has a decimal to it.... so we need to round 49.99, 99.98, 149.97, and 199.96.... so what would these numbers round too?
round what place??
We would round these numbers to where it doesnt have a decimal.... so 49.99 would round to 50....
50,100,150 and 200
I agree with 563blackghost in that I'd choose to round off the four y vales and mark the y-axis accordingly, exactly as pooja95 has just done.
Trying to mark the y-axis with mixed fractions such as 49.99 would be a waste of time.
@563blackghost what should I do next?
Correct! Now we need to label the y-axis... So we would start with 0 now what would the highest y-value be....we need to make sure that it can include all points...
200?
Correct! So the y-axis would be labeled from 0 to 200 ^^
so that's the answer?
Yup
From 0 to 200 at intervals of 50 that is the only option that says 0 to 200
Yup... if we double check if it is at intervals of 50 we would look at the rounded points.... 50, 100, 150, and 200 now do they go by 50's?
yes thanks you will get a medal and fan!
