How do plants remove toxins from air and water?
@jagr2713 @pooja195 @robtobey
@YoungStudier @Awolflover1 @sweetburger
Are there answer choices for this, or no? ^-^
@neonumbrella5115 ?
There are no answer choices, this is for an essay I'm writing for Environmental Science.
Oh, okay. ^.^ "Plants produce their own food through a process called photosynthesis. This means they take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release oxygen. Photosynthesis "cleans" our air by absorbing carbon dioxide and by taking in certain other pollutants, as well." ~ http://www.colostate.edu/Dept/CoopExt/4dmg/Plants/clean.htm A site that I thought might be useful for how plants remove toxins from water: http://www.dew-drop.com/waterpurificationusingplants.html And also: "Native plants and raingardens help clean water naturally since they generally have deep root systems that anchor soil and act as filters, collecting dirty run-off from streets and rooftops, and separating out pollutants while absorbing water and decreasing flooding." ~ http://www.bluethumb.org/why/
@YoungStudier Thank you so much! I might tag you with more questions.
You're welcome. ^.^ Alrighty, I'll be here if you need me. :)
