The pictured structure codes for how many amino acids? 12 4 6 2
have you heard of triplet code?
Yes I have.
alright so what does it state?
Three nucleotides are coded for one amino acid, right?
correct
Cause then RNA would be able to code for 64 amino acids. Which is can cover the 20 we meed.
to be precise its 3 nitrogenous bases that are the 'code'
Oh gosh I can't spell. XD *Cause then the RNA would be able to code for 64 amino acids. Which is enough to cover all the ones we need. And yes, it's three bases that are the code.
we have 20 amino acids in total each amino acid can have multiple sets of codes (2-4) so in total we have 64 sets of combinations for 20 amino acids
so now, how many possible amino acids do you see in that picture?
Considering that we're talking about amino acids, will I have to convert T to U? @Somy
and then I have to find the amino acids it codes for?
you can but not to waste time, you can just think of triplet rule
So three equals one? Wouldn't that be four amino acids?
oh btw the codon table that u can find on google shows the triplet codes on mRNA so be careful DNA to mRNA is also complimentary + T is replaced by U as you said
thats correct
Thanks so much! I thought it was four, but then someone said two and I got confused. But thanks again!
just to clarify, id DNA as in your case, is TAC, then mRNA of it will be AUC, usually it would be T, but in case of RNA its always U
no problem :) i was a little confused too but mind you, these two can be complimentary but when we do mRNA transcription we use single strand so you gotta get 2 from one strand and 2 from the other
Ahhhh, I understand that now!
