OpenStudy (stuck-help):

|dw:1452012958660:dw| line BD in congruent to line CD how do we know this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the line is down the middle and the triangle is either equilateral or isosceles???

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

i need in math terms

OpenStudy (whovianchick):

if Line AD is really straight down the middle of the triangle, it bisects line BC. If D is the Bisection Point, then BD is congruent to DC

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well then...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jk

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

yes i know all that but how do we know that without just looking at it

OpenStudy (whovianchick):

I forget what rule it is, but it basically says that if a line is bisected, then one half of it is congruent to the other half.

OpenStudy (whovianchick):

Well that's the only "explanation" that explains it, so stick with it or suck it up. I literally just told you.

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

im sorry but my question ask how do we know this i understand that there is no need to be rude

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

@malcolmmcswain

OpenStudy (whovianchick):

We can't figure it out any other way, you didn't give any measurements. I just told you "how we know this" and you're rejecting it. If you can find someone to bs up an answer, go ahead

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

i need the definition i kno whow to do it looking at but i need how you can prove this you have already you dont know what the term is so you dont know how to answer

OpenStudy (stuck-help):

that does not tell me the terms/ definition

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

Hello @stuck-help it seems that you are missing some information in your question the most I can find that might help you is this definition http://www.mathopenref.com/trianglemedians.html

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

if the information you had been missing was telling us that your triangle is an isosceles triangle then check out theorem 2 on this link which describes your situation: http://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/Triangles/An-altitude-a-median-and-an-angle-bisector-in-the-isosceles-triangle.lesson
