A plane intersects a double-napped cone so that it is perpendicular to the cone’s axis and intersects the cone’s vertex. Which conic section is formed? circle parabola point line
i know it but how to explain
Have you tried drawing this situation?
1. Is circle cause the cone is just multiple circles built on top of each other 2. (5,1) (10,6) take the difference of the x's (10-5=5) which will give you your final x then do the same for your y's i the same order (6-1=5) to get your y then do square root of (x^2+y^2) ---> square root of 5^2+5^2---> square root of 50. so your final answer is square root of 50 3. (x-2)^2 + (y-3)^2 =9, doesn't look like an answer but that is what it is... 4. radius is 4. double that to get the diameter and you get 8... Source(s): my brain
actually its a .com
But thanks for choosing openstudy
CMorris, thank you for your efforts to help R. Stover. Unfortunately, doing the work of others for them and handing out answers without their involvement is not helpful at all in the long run. Please see what the Code of Conduct has to say about that: http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct Instead, please guide your student as he / she goes through the work and (hopefully) arrives at his or her own answers. Thank you.
Note how R. Slover was not involved in this discussion at all, after having posted her original question. This is not healthy. We want students invvolved, the more the better.
-_- But i helped...wow. Whats with this?...
CMorris: Please go back and read what I said earlier, as well as refer to http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct As I said, you wanted to be of help, and you tried to be of help, but you did all of the work for the other person and gave away the answers to boot. Would you learn well if I were to do that for you? I doubt it. So, again, please involve the other person in the learning activities in such ways that he or she can find his or her own answers. Thanks.
