First, do you know the difference between DNA and RNA?
DNA/Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that carries most of the genetic instructions used in the development,
RNA/ Ribonucleic acid is a polymeric molecule implicated in various biological roles in coding, decoding, regulation, and expression of genes.
Are you familiar with what the difference is in a picture? Like if I showed you a picture of DNA and a picture of RNA could you tell me which was which?
Umm, I think so im not really sure. :/
Alright, so is the molecule in the picture DNA or RNA?
DNA
Right. The difference is that DNA is a double-helix, which means that it looks like a twisted ladder, while RNA is a single strand so it will look like half of a ladder. Now you've narrowed it down to A or C. Do you know where either the nitrogen bases or the phosphates go on the diagram?
No
IDk where the nitrogen bases or the phosphates go on the diagram.
Do you know what the nitrogen bases are or the names of the 4 bases?
no.
This is a diagram of a DNA molecule. The P's in circles are phosphates, which make up the backbone structure of the DNA (think of them and sugar molecules like the two sticks on the side of a ladder. The four nitrogen bases are the rungs of the ladder in the middle. Can you answer the question with this information?
Would my answer be the first one? :/
Right! I sort of gave it away, sorry about that. The ladder analogy is pretty common when teaching the DNA molecule.
TY SO MUCH!!
