Help anyone?

OpenStudy (adamgrimm):

whats the question

OpenStudy (allieeslabae):

The function f(x)=x^2. The graph of g(x) is f(x) translated to the right 3 units and down 3 units. What is the function rule for g(x)?

OpenStudy (adamgrimm):

hmmmmm let me think for a second

OpenStudy (adamgrimm):

well x^2 would probably mean x squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are these on a graph already? if so what are the points so far because you can't get an exact location without them.

OpenStudy (adamgrimm):

it would put that at (-1,2) when translated to the right 3 then when translated down 3 would be (-2,-2) that is as best as i can do for now

OpenStudy (allieeslabae):

No its just these words..and I have no clue...

OpenStudy (allieeslabae):

Okay thanks for trying @adamgrimm

OpenStudy (adamgrimm):

its no problem

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

when I make a traslation of \(N\) units to the right, I get this function: \(f(x-N)\). Then I make a traslation of 3 units down, so I get: \(f(x-N)-3\)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

in our case, \(N=3\), so I can write: \(f(x-3)-3\)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

such function is the function \(g(x)\): \(g(x)=f(x-3)-3\)

OpenStudy (allieeslabae):

Uhh wow that makes since now! thank you, so much!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

:)
