How many different ways can five students form a line? (this is my first time using this site so I don't really know what I'm doing) (also that is the question, no pics, no graphs...)

|dw:1452106795411:dw| When placing the student on the extreme left, there are 5 choices. There will only be 4 students left for the second position, 3, 2, 1... and so on. By the multiplication rule, we would multiply together the number of choices at each of the 5 positions to get the total number of ways to line up 5 students. Try in a similar way lining up 3 students and see if you get 6 ways.
