#18

@stefanwolf1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does muplicity mean?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

How many times a particular number is a zero for a given polynomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wouldnt it just be 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The degree is 3 so that means it has 3 solutions.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was over thinking that woops

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

So there are 3 zeros?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

For #18

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Zeros mean solutions so there must be since the degree is 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By zeros you mean what x equals, correct?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it would be 3 then.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

And the multiplicity?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sort of confused what multiplicity is asking for. Should I state how many zeros for each number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well the multiplicity for each number.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

You only need to state the multiplicity if there are multiple zeroes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well it would have to be 3 for the whole thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Multiplicity is just asking for the amount of zeros?

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Oh wait never mind.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Thank you!
