A vase contains 12 tulips and 20 roses. What is the ratio of roses to the total number of flowers in the vase? A. 3 to 8 B. 3 to 5 C. 5 to 8 D. 5 to 3
help will medal. @mathmale
It's b!
Since 12 and 20 are both divisible by 4 divide both of them by 4 and get the answer!!
no. read the question more carefully. @xx.fallen.angel.xx
IT IS B
ratio is not tulips to roses (which would be 3:5 as you suggest). the desired ratio is roses to the total number of flowers
nvm
it isn't
it is D final answer
and it is correct
nvm
wrong again
it is C
since it is roses to number of flowers ratio
now I get it
so, helpful tip. whenever you think you have found the answer, read the question again and ask yourself: "does my answer answer the question?"
it is very easy to just jump into doing some work to solve the problem and fail to notice that you have inadvertently answered some other question. often, multiple choice questions will have answers that match what you will get if you fall into this trap.
sorry, i had to x out, my internet was slow.
Yeah! I see what I did! Thanks for the correction!! It's c
so i say d.
@Thadds2003 how can the ratio of roses to the total number of flowers be 5 to 3?!?
unless roses are not flowers, that is impossible.
oh.
so c?
I agree that the ratio of roses (20) to tulips (12) is 5 to 3, but that is not what the question asks you to provide. roses to total flowers 20 to roses+tulips 20 to 20+12 20 to 32
