You have to get the variable by itself on one side of the equation. In order to do this, you can take -4 from the left side to the right side, which will become + 4, with 8; -2x > 8 + 4 Then, you add: -2x > 12 Then you separate -2 from x by bringing it to the right side. It is -2 times x, so when you convert it to the right side, it will become division: x > 12/-2 You then divide: x < -6 So your final answer is: x < -6
