OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

Triangle GHI is shown below with line JK passing through the center. Imagine triangle GHI was dilated by a scale factor of four about the center of the triangle and a line was drawn passing through its center. What would you know about the line of the dilated figure as compared to line JK drawn below?

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

@boldjon can you help?

OpenStudy (boldjon):

yeah i'm working on it

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

Ok thank you!

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

From what I understand about dilation equations like this is that the center of a triangle or a dilation is a fixed point in the plane in which all points are expanded.

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

In my opinion the line of the dilation would overlap the original position of JK.

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

Did they want me to prove anything or just answer like this?

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

@rvc

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

@mathmale

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Dilations from the center are all nicely proportional.

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

Ok so should I add that in?

OpenStudy (serenity74):

Yea you should

OpenStudy (mathaphobia):

Ok thanks!
