I have a small confusion regarding STANDING WAVES! we know that nodes are the point of minimum vibration but I have this book which says that for LONGITUDINAL standing waves, pressure and density variations are maximum at nodes and thus vibration is maximum at nodes. Can you explain me how?
@Michele_Laino @IrishBoy123
@Photon336
@Kainui
@Abhisar i know where you stuck
there are two types of waves in standing waves 1) displacement wave ( or transverse waves) 2) longitudinal wave
i hope you know the difference between these two ^^
okay
Yes, I know that. I want to know why vibrations are minimum at nodes in longitudinal Standing waves while the same is opposite for transverse standing waves.
in displacement wave, amplitude is minimum at nodes . thereby, vibration is minimum and vice-versa for antinode
but in case of standing wave, whole process is reversed
Yes i know....but why it is opposite for longitudinal waves. Why pressure variation is maximum at nodes of longitudinal standing waves?
Yes I was reading that link.
\[\large \bf A~Node~for~Displacement~is~Antinode~for~pressure\]
It's not that amplitude is max at nodes. Amplitude or displacement is always minimum at nodes. But pressure becomes max at nodes in longitudinal waves. So vibration is still least at node for both but pressure variation is max at nodes for longitudinal waves.

As i stated earlier, A NODE FOR DISPLACEMENT IS ANTINODE FOR PRESSURE
Yes, I just wanted to understand why? thanx c:
I have not much knowledge about standing wave ! I have a basic understanding which i have shared to you :)
It is being taught in COLLEGES !
in advanced
Well, I need to teach this to my younger brother and I find it hard to teach unless I know it well. What will I do if he asked me the same question :O :O
Simply say you are going to teach in your college life ! Be prepare for that ! Everything is not taught for you
Ehhhh..that is the answer I hate the most myself :D But I gues it's the right answer .. :D
Thanks for the help bro!! :3
hey, that's why we created level Grade 5 student can't learn Grade 12 !
Hey, i am sorry ! I don't help you out :(
I haven't revise this chapter yet !
OR i can recommend you refer HCV
