I know this is off topic but could any help me with a very simple civics question?

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

What happens to an amendment that is not ratified? a. It goes back to the Senate for a vote. b. It is not put in the Constitution, but remains a law. c. It is sent to the president. d. It is not put in the Constitution and is not a law.

OpenStudy (study312):

I found this The Equal Right Amendment expired in 1982, after having its expiration date extended in 1979. In other words, the proposed amendment is dead. Congress has re-introduced the amendment for consideration since 1982, but it has never received enough votes to go forward with the process. Amendments that do not receive ratification by the time of their expiry dates just die. They have no force of law on anyone or any state.

I gtg

OpenStudy (nikki_skellington):

ok thx

OpenStudy (study312):

There is a limited amount of time given the States to get it through their legislatures and if that time expires before it's ratified, the proposed amendment is dead. For the Amendment to be considered again it must go through the process beginning at step one at the Congressional level.
