pleaswe help
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
how many copies of `-2` are being multiplied here?
OpenStudy (j3nny0rtiz):
5
OpenStudy (quantummechanics):
As @jim_thompson5910 has requested, the exponents tell you how many times you multiply the number by itself.
For example: \[x^4 = (x)(x)(x)(x)\]
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
yes, 5
so `(-2) (-2) (-2) (-2) (-2)` is equivalent to `(-2)^5`
it's a shorthand way of writing out all that multiplication

it looks like they have a typo somewhere
OpenStudy (j3nny0rtiz):
the answers I have are diferent
OpenStudy (quantummechanics):
Maybe a (-2) was added by mistake in the question?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
yeah which is why I'm thinking there's a typo
OpenStudy (quantummechanics):
Would you mind checking if it is (-2) (-2) (-2) (-2) instead of (-2) (-2) (-2) (-2) (-2)

its 5 times
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
I think your teacher made a typo and there should be (-2)^5 in there somewhere. So you'll have to ask him/her about it
OpenStudy (quantummechanics):
Thank you @jim_thompson5910
