CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME FILL THIS PRACTICE SHEET OUT! I WILL MEDAL! Please walk me through, from A,B to C.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

MsBrains (ms-brains):

@jabez177 Can you please help me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It looks like you first need to isolate the y. What can you do to get the y by itself?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

No..sorry! I don't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is on the left side by the y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there another variable on the left side?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

x+3y < 6 There is an x on the left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, what do you need to do to the x to move it to the right side?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Simplify?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

? how would you simplify?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I don't know. I really suck at this .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it is positive, can you subtract it on both sides to move it?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do that

MsBrains (ms-brains):

y = 6-x/3 Like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, almost. You did a little more than just subtracting the x. If you divide the 3, which you need to do, you must divide it by every thing y = 6/3-x/3 y=2-x/3 or y=-3x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you see how that looks like y=mx+b

MsBrains (ms-brains):

y=-3x+2 Yeah, okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if the y intercept=b, what number is b?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my mistake y= -x/3+2

MsBrains (ms-brains):

x=3/y-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, don't move the x or y y=mx+b y= -x/3+2 what number is in the b spot?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

+?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if x=o what is y=

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what number is after the plus?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. 2 is the y intercept. That is where one point is on your graph. If x=0 and y=2 how do you write them as an ordered pair?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Wait, I don't think we are supposed to solve it like that. heere let me show you how I did it before, and what my teacher said about it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, that is what you will do. I was just wanting to see if you knew how to write an ordered pair and which one was the x and y . But look at the graph you just put up. Do you see the point on the (0,2)?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Yes..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So that is the first point on your graph. Now lets see how to get the second one.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

This is how I think the graph part should be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Okay, good! Now, what should I write in part B and C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B. what steps did you do to find the two points?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

B.The line should be solid because it is less than or equal to. ^^ Like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct. Equal to means it does have to be solid. Why did you choose to shade under and not over?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

C, it is shaded below the line because it is less than?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You got it. Good job

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Can you help me with 1 more part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is that?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

MsBrains (ms-brains):

It should look something like this..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does slope intercept form look like?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I'm not sure..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on part c in red there is an arrow pointing to it

MsBrains (ms-brains):

y = ax+b ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. Normally I see it written with an m not a. Remember I wrote y=mx+b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you need to do the same thing you did on the other problem to make this one loo like slope intercept form. What do you need to do to isolate the y?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I think I understand it. y = 1/2x - 1 Slope-intercept form is y = mx + b... 4x - 8y = 8 8y = 4x - 8 y = 1/2x - 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well almost. try dividing everything by 4 first

MsBrains (ms-brains):

4x - 8y = 8 * 4 x = 8 +2y ^^ like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x - 8y = 8 x - 2y = 2 -2y = -x +2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now isolate the y by dividing by what?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

y= 2-x/-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite. You need to divide by -2

MsBrains (ms-brains):

y = 2-x/2 <?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2y = -x +2 y =-x/-2 + 2/-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What does that come out to be?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

x= 2(y+1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You don't want to move the x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is -x/-2?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

y =-x/-3 <?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-/-=?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I honestly don't know. ;-; I'm sorry! I suck at math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is -2 x -2 ?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

neg times neg = ? neg div neg = ?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

-2 * -2 = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what is -x/-2?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where did 4 come from? you have a neg x being divided by a neg 2. You are looking at the two neg values. What does two neg values multiply or divide out to? It should come out as a positive value

MsBrains (ms-brains):

I'm sorry, could you just show me how to do it..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am trying to show you how if -d/-g= d/g the neg div neg becomes posative

MsBrains (ms-brains):

okay. so -x/-2 should = to 2x ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

almost. you wrote 2x (2 times x) that is not the same thing as x being divided by 2 is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My hour is up. I have to go. Maybe your teacher can explain it better.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Okay. Bye! I guess...
