An icicle can grow and become larger. Why is it not considered living?

It depends on how cold the weather is. If the weather is cold, it will turn into ice. If it becomes colder, the icicle will become bigger. (Considering that more water could drop onto the icicle too, and become part of it.)

And water can turn into ice based on how cold the weather is (below, or at 32 degrees F). Hope this helped!

there are a few criteria that a living organism must possess, 1. (first and foremost) needs to be made of cells 2. Needs to have a metabolism 3. Needs to be able to reproduce There may be a few more, but these cover the basics. Icicles have none of these.
