PLEEEEASE HELP!!! MEDAL AND FAN GIVEN. Which system of equations is represented by the graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

At first i thought it was B but im stuck

OpenStudy (rose4825):

The equation of the line, the two set of points (-1,-5) and (4,0) show that when x increases by 5, y increases by 5, the slope of a line is: \[m = y _{2} - y _{1} / x _{2} - x _{1}\] Your equation for this would look like this: \[m = 0 - (-5)/4 - (-1)\] \[m = 0 + 5/ 4 + 1\] The slope is 5/5; same as the whole number 1. The options are in the y-intercept form y=mx+b, m is the slope, and b is the value of the y-intercept when x is zero, so the equation is y=1x+(-4) (or y=x-4). This would be your first equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh, I think i'm understanding. therefore it's definitely not the last two options, correct? :)

OpenStudy (rose4825):

No, this eliminates answers A and C

OpenStudy (rose4825):

Since they do not have y=x-4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ahh, right. Sorry I read it wrong. I thought it said y=x-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I'm supposing with your explanation (if i understood correctly) the answer would be D?

OpenStudy (rose4825):

I do not remember how to solve for the other equation. How did you solve for the other equation? Maybe that will help me remember.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I do not remember either, that is why I was having trouble solving the equation. I was conflicted between B and D but I'm not exactly sure how to determine which of those is correct

OpenStudy (rose4825):

Alright, give me a moment to figure this out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm almost positive it's D

OpenStudy (rose4825):

Yes. That is what I think is the correct answer, but I want to verify it just to be sure.

OpenStudy (rose4825):

Yes D is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you soo much! I really appreciate it

OpenStudy (rose4825):

No problem :) I just hope I got it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be a bother if i asked you to help me out with one more problem similar to this one?

OpenStudy (rose4825):

Post it and I will see if I can help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright i'll tag you on it now :)

OpenStudy (rose4825):

ok
