In metaphase II of meiosis, the homologous chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell, each sister chromatid lined up in the direction it will be pulled (to form the nucleus of the new cell). How does this compare to metaphase of mitosis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the difference lies in the result instead of process. After metaphase II of meiosis, the daughter cells contain half of the parental DNA, while the DNA number of mitosis remains the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the difference is that in metaphase 1 in mitosis there is a full chromosome (so like a "x") then that is pulled apart to make 2 halves of the chromosomes. while, in meiosis metaphase 2 the halves of chromosomes line up and split in other halves. (so 1/4ths)
