Help Please!!! How do the parameters a,h,k in the general equation y=a(x-h)^2+k affect the graph of a quadratic function?
i was trying so hard but lets face it I AM NO HELP!!!! hope you get ur answer
y=a(x-h)^2 + k is the equation of a parabola (a quadratic function). Think: What does ' k ' represent? what would happen to the graph of the parabola were you to increase k by 2?
The graph would move up or down
Partially right. Would it move up? Would it move down? Which?
If it increases by 2 then it would move up
I believe with h if it is positive it moves rights and if its negative it moves left. With A it would affect the parabola by opening upward or downward. And if A is less than 1 the parabola becomes wider, if it is greater than 1 it becomes steep
How can I explain this simplified? If I'm correct
@mathmale are you there?
Go here https://www.desmos.com/calculator type in y = A*(x-H)^2 + K ad slider bars to let you change A,H,K, and observe the effects..
Thank you this took me forever
