y = (x^2+3x-4)/(x^2+5x+4) We need to factor these first... \(x^2+3x-4=(x+4)(x-1)\) \(x^2+5x+4=(x+4)(x+1)\)\[y=\frac{(x+4)(x-1)}{(x+4)(x+1)}\]There is one factor on top and bottom that can cancel out, do you know what one?
Im not sure, would it be (x+4)?
since its the same on the top n bottom
Yeah, so we are left with what?
y = (x-1) / (x+1)
Yep! You got it!
Thank you sm!
