What's the question?
OpenStudy (sophadof):
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
Okay, so the first one is easy. Just graph it at desmos
OpenStudy (studygurl14):
The second one, factoring. \(\Large x^2+2x-8\)
What two numbers equal -8 when multiplied, and 2 when added?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
for 2:
\[x ^{2} +2x -8\] is factored to \[(x-2)(x+4)\]
SO X= 2 or X= -4
For 3:
\[\frac{ -b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4ac} }{ 2a }\]
where a is 1, b is 2 and c is -8
Substitute and you will get the same results for x

And also for the quadratic formula it is
\[x=\frac{ -b \pm \sqrt{b ^{2}-4ac} }{2a }\]
OpenStudy (sophadof):
questions @Brill how do you factor #2 though?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So what 2 numbers can add to get -2 and multiply to get 8?
OpenStudy (sophadof):
1? @Brill
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Does 1+1=2 and 1 x 1=-8?

hahaaa no... @Brill
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So what other numbers could satisfy those two requirements?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hint: try numbers that will multiply to -8 first
OpenStudy (sophadof):
2 and 4 @Brill
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Almost
does 2 x 4= -8?

-4!! @Brill
OpenStudy (anonymous):
YEP
So all you do is input 2 and -4 into
(x+2)(x-4)
