OpenStudy (rebecca1588):

Volcanoes erupt today, so we can assume they erupted in the past. Which important geologic principle does this sentence support? A. uniformitarianism B. faunal succession C. superposition D. original horizontality

Awolflover1 (awolflover1):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

C goes to the position of rocks that change due to disturbance. B same with this, it is usually to a process including sedimentary rocks. More onsite: http://www.babylon.com/definition/principle_of_faunal_succession/ D basically the opposite of C. 'the law of original horizontality states that most sediments, when originally formed, were laid down horizontally.' Thus probably true if the sample is NOT disturbed by erosion etc.. http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_law_of_original_horizontality Everything I had cited to you @rebecca1588, has something to do with the process of SEDIMENTARY rocks except one thing I haven't stated. Which one was it? That would be your correct answer.

OpenStudy (misssmartiez):

Hint: a presumption on what happened to the past, how, and why is it still occurring(?). = A.
