What's your question?

Read the following excerpt from Romeo and Juliet. In a response of four to six sentences, identify the cultural practices and language that illustrate the play’s historical context. How does the historical context depicted in this excerpt compare with our world today? Use proper spelling and grammar. CAPULET But Montague is bound as well as I, In penalty alike; and 'tis not hard, I think, For men so old as we to keep the peace. PARIS Of honourable reckoning are you both; And pity 'tis you lived at odds so long. But now, my lord, what say you to my suit? CAPULET But saying o'er what I have said before: My child is yet a stranger in the world; She hath not seen the change of fourteen years, Let two more summers wither in their pride, Ere we may think her ripe to be a bride. PARIS Younger than she are happy mothers made. Its long I know

this is my last question so..

So, you only need a response of 4-6 sentences. That is pretty easy, in my opinion. You just have to relate the cultural practices and language to today's society, pretty much. So... How it relates to our society is that historically, people did live longer in the past than they do in today's society. They speak of how they are old and just want to keep the peace, and that can be related to most older men of our society now; they are old and just want to be peaceful. When Capulet is speaking of her daughter, she is saying that she is still very young and that they should wait two more summers until she is fourteen for her to be a bride. This definitely relates to our society today, mainly because this is the age in which most teenagers begin having relationships and experiences like that. The difference in that is, today in society, we definitely do not marry our children off at fourteen. Or at least, I would hope. So there you go! I hope that answered it somewhat for you.
