Could someone please explain how to divide a segment to me? So, I took this practice exam a few days ago (it doesn't count towards my grade) and I got a pretty bad score. I thought I was correctly dividing segments between coordinate points, but I guess I was wrong! I was wondering if someone could explain to me how to get the right answer for one of the questions on that practice exam. The first question was: Point G is located at (3, −1) and point H is located at (−2, 3). Find y value for the point that is 2 over 3 the distance from point G to point H. 2.67 1.67 5.67 0.67
I don't really remember how exactly I got my answer, but I chose 0.67. If someone could give me an explanation to the right answer and how I can go about solving similar problems, I'd be really thankful!
Point G is located at (3, -1) and point H is located at (-2, 3). they want ⅔ of the way from G to H if you look only at the x numbers (the first number) to go from G to H you go from 3 to -2 how many steps (down) is that ? ⅔ of the the way will be ⅔ of that number of steps. 3 down that number of steps gets you the x part of the answer. then do the same for the y: you go from -1 to + 3. How many steps is that (now "up" or getting bigger). ⅔ of that number of steps is how far you move from -1 to get the the y part of the answer. only C would make sence
