What is the differences between "Than" & "Then"?

OpenStudy (joclyn16):

What is the difference between then and than? These two words are quite different! Their only similarity is in the way they sound. Than is used to compare or contrast things, as in "He is a lot smaller than his older brother."

OpenStudy (glitterychan):

Yes, and "then" is used to situate actions in time. For example, "If you do not wake up on time, then you will miss the bus."

Simplest way to explain. I would rather watch football than study math right now. Emily gave me a huge smile and then walked away. Wouldn't you prefer to take the bus rather than walk? I'll take a nap first and then call you. Hope these examples help :)
