Can someone explain to me how to simplify (x+6)^2?????
I would not call it "simplify" but you can "expand it" or multiply it out the little 2 means multiply by itself, like this (x+6)(x+6) and you might have learned FOIL to multiply it ?
@phi i meant multiply, i'm sorry
I got x^2+36 but that wasn't correct
This is simply (x+6)(x+6) do you know how to foil?
If you have time, see https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra-basics/quadratics-polynomials-topic/multiplying-binomials-core-algebra/v/square-a-binomial as a quick example
The key to this is realizing that it is (value)^2 not value^2. The parenthesis means that you will be squaring everything inside all together as one value, not each one individually.
So you would simply use FOIL and solve for (x+6)(x+6)
so its x^2+12x+36?
yeah
FOIL is first outer inner last, correct?
yep, that's what it is
Yep and you earned a medal keep up the great work
Thank you all @phi @Decarr432 @chibiterasu
