example: x=5, 6, -9.
this will become: (x-5)(x-6)(x+9)
got that?
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
so (+1)(-3)(-4)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you forgot the x :D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(x+1)(x-3)(x-4)
then multiply them together.
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
woops (x+1)(x-3)(x-4)

OpenStudy (joshoyen):
yeah this is the part where i get confused
OpenStudy (anonymous):
use FOIL for the first two, then just simply multiply the other one.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
(x+1)(x-3)(x-4)
USE FOIL METHOD HERE FIRST: (x+1)(x-3)
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
\[x^2 - 3x + 1x - 3\] ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
simplify it to : \(x^2-2x-2\).

then multiply that equation above to (x-4).
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
wait how'd you get 2?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x^2-3x+1x-3
notice that -3x and 1x have the same degree.
SO -3x+1x= -2x
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
Oh i meant the regular 2 with no x
OpenStudy (anonymous):
now multiply this: \((x-4)(x^2-2x-3)\)

oh... that was a typo, sorry!
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
ohh okay, haha np
OpenStudy (joshoyen):
okay i get it now, thanks!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no problem!
