Mathematics 26 Online
OpenStudy (imastudentlolx):

6x+5y=39 3x+5y=27 solve for x & y

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[6x+5y=39\]\[3x+5y=27\] why don't you subtract the second equation from the first?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

doing so should make the variable \(y\) disappear, leaving you only with an equation in terms of \(x\), which you can solve for the value of \(x\). Then plug the value of \(x\) back into either of the original equations and solve for the value of \(y\).
