OpenStudy (thread252):

Which of the following is NOT true about ATP? glucose breaks down into ATP without any initial energy input. (It just spontaneously happens) Energy is stored in the bonds of the phosphate group cells make and use ATP ferns, slime molds, dogs, and fish all use ATP for energy in the cells

Atsie (atsie):

ATP stands for active transport energy. The original purpose of ATP is basically to provide energy within a cell which also stores itself for later use. So if we use the power of elimination, we can basically take out C. What else could we eliminate? @thread252

OpenStudy (thread252):

A, and B???

OpenStudy (thread252):

Atp stands for Adenosine Tri Phosphate

Atsie (atsie):

That is so strange! I was taught that it was Active Transport Energy!

Atsie (atsie):

Well, A definitely can be eliminated because glucose breaking down into ATP doesn't just happen.

Atsie (atsie):

What else? Eliminate one more. @thread252 :)

OpenStudy (somy):

Eliminate? @Atsie read the question again.

Atsie (atsie):

@Somy I'm eliminating options. Is there something wrong with that?

Atsie (atsie):

Its one of the best ways to gain the answer on one of these questions. It will help the person asking them in order to make them think and question themselves and questioned what they have learned.

OpenStudy (somy):

@Atsie it is indeed one of the best ways to solve problems, but please read what the question is asking for and what you are eliminating.

OpenStudy (somy):

I dont know what you were thinking as your correct response while eliminating the actual correct answer

Atsie (atsie):

Alright, and what was the correct answer according to you?

OpenStudy (somy):

...... i dont understand, cant u read what the question is asking for? it clearly asks you to choose the option that is INCORRECT about ATP, and you clearly chose & explained the one that is incorrect yet eliminated it.

OpenStudy (somy):

" Well, A definitely can be eliminated because glucose breaking down into ATP doesn't just happen. " you clearly said why this option is not true in regards with ATP which is in this case the exact correct answer the question is asking for

OpenStudy (somy):

am i clear now?

Atsie (atsie):

I meant to say B! I accidentally put the wrong option down. I understand now, I'm sorry. I thought you were "literally" sassing me or something. haha, I'm very sorry. You are correct. ^-^

OpenStudy (somy):

B is phosphate bonds and has nothing to do with glucose lol anyway i see you did misread the question to begin with its good that you know the topic, but you must always pay close attention to the main question and actually analyze it :)

Atsie (atsie):

Most of the time I do try very hard to pay attention to the question. I don't know what happened there. I must say I hadn't slept for the past week, so I was off my ball. I've been struggling with my own assignments let alone someone else's because of that! But thanks for pointing it out, I appreciate it :)

OpenStudy (somy):

specially in exams be careful. no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In glycolysis, or the initial breakdown of glucose, 2 ATP is spent and 4 ATP is gained in breaking down glucose into pyruvate. The answer is therefore, A. All the other answers are true regarding ATP.
