what happens to density as salinity increases?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

google down for the day?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ocean water gets more dense as temperature goes down. So, the colder the water, the more dense it is. Increasing salinity also increases the density of sea water. Less dense water floats on top of more dense water.Aug 31, 2001

@Irrati0nal what your thinking?

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

Well, he took that from Google, but it's correct. When salt dissolves into water, it combines with the water to make it more dense.

OpenStudy (irrati0nal):

So, if the salinity increases, so does the density.

@Irrati0nal thanks

You're welcome. Let me know if you need help with anything else.
