Sheri used 1/3 of a cup of sugar to make 1/3 of a jug of tea. How much sugar will she use for an entire jug? Question 5 options: 1/2 a cup 2/3 of a cup 1 cup 1 1/2 cups

OpenStudy (ineedhelplz):

1 cup, because 1/3 x 3 = 1

So it looks like you're given something like: \[\frac{ \frac{ 1 }{ 3 } }{ \frac{ 1 }{ 3 } }\] but you don't want fraction over a fraction so you take the reciprocal and then multiply instead of divide since it is the recip. now. So now you'd have: \[\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }*\frac{ 3 }{ 1 }\] and 3 over 1 is just 3.. When you multiply then you'd get 1! :)
