(Symbol Key): ○ User name drop ◘ ○ Code of Conduct ◙ ◙ RANT AHEAD! • Subject: OpenStudy Code of Conduct • • Warning: possible sarcasm • > Note: read the "tl;dr" (♦) part if you don't have time to read the first paragraph • I really don't like people who police the forums and lecture people on exactly how they should answer/post questions! I believe the only ones who have the right to do that are moderators, people with high SS (and haven't been repeatedly banned from the site), OR people who don't speak condescendingly because they think "[they] know better" than I do about the OpenStudy Code of Conduct. * It's okay if you have a low SS as long as you're not actively looking to create disputes. Sorry for the confusion!! ♦ tl;dr if you want to call someone out on something, at least have something to back you up AND be respectful ♪ ○○○ Personally - If I've missed some aspect of the "no direct answer rule", the best mode of action is to POLITELY notify me, not act like I'm an idiot/doing things on purpose, so I can remedy my problem. Trying to instigate/provoke aggressive confrontation is never going to lead about a positive result. • Thank you for reading this little rant ☻
That felt good to get off my chest xD
:) im glad you took the time to tell OpenStudy what you feel. I'm sure it means a lot to the moderators and ambassadors. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve OpenStudy ?
Well... if there is anything I could change... • I think we should have more mods/supervision in the chats, to be honest. There are a lot of evil trolls on there - mean jokes, pretending to be able to tutor in a subject while not actually being able to, etc. ○ It's starting to look a lot like PeerAnswer (I know, it's kinda taboo, but I honestly feel like this is where the chats are going to end up) • Also, perhaps new users could be redirected to a tutorial video on how to use this site as well as a quick overview of the Code of Conduct, to avoid drama over the rules? ☺
@pooja195 @Awolflover1 @Atsie @soprano.h.d0816 @Whitemonsterbunny17 what do you guys think?
(referring to the second bullet point) I see a lot of random subject questions in OS Feedback, so that's why I took notice
Thank you again for your feedback. :) Peer feedback is always accepted, and welcomed. It's what helps OpenStudy improve ^-^
Of course! @tootzrll I am always willing to help contribute to the community in any way. ☺ ♥
@tootzrll and @kittiwitti1 I believe it is actually a good idea! And I'll be happy to help try and bring things like this into effect as long as others are willing! I will talk to a few other people about this :D Thank you SOOOO much for your wonderful feedback love!!
No problem @soprano.h.d0816 ♥ always willing to lend a helping hand in this wonderful community ~ ♪ ^-^
That happens often with people who have just joined the site. The higher you progress in SS, there isn't any real excuse.
Yeah, I know. But it would probably be less annoying if people were more familiar with the layout of the site, y'know? ☺
And some users like to get verbally combative when asked to move to the appropriate thread e_e
Well, one thing I noticed is that often people compete for medals on the more active sections. and one person might think hey I need to answer the question first before these other people do.
Mmm, that too. I'd forgotten to mention that, thank you
But, anyway I think people should just be respectful to the person who gives out a direct answer, if the person does it again more action should be taken.
let me rephrase that. i mean't respectfully call the person out on it
Yes, my thoughts exactly e_e I got accused of "trolling" because I'd used process of elimination (???) a couple days ago
I mean, it wasn't a mod, but still. That was VERY rude !
Well, some mods take their time to guide users to the correct answer. I guess I could understand if that person was teaching another guy/girl how to do something and someone else says oh it's A! I would be mad too. but for the other guy, I would just block him,
I didn't really do that though, I just stuck a formula in there, then reformatted the question prompt to be more easily understandable. @Photon336` I think it was the fact that I interrupted him xD
do i do it well enough or am i mean ;~~~~~; @kittiwitti1
*
What @ILovePuppiesLol o_o
do i let them know about the rules nicely or nah, what is my grade
Grade? I dunno. But you do it pretty well ☺ @ILovePuppiesLol ○ Name Drop Below Also, user HatsuneMiku379 has been repeatedly asking random people to PM him (?), and asks randomly for contact information outside of OS. Additionally the profile picture is very creepy; upon confronting, he merely laughs it off and continues to ask shady questions. His behavior is very questionable. He also admitted in a former post that "I only come on here to chat". ☻
+1 ✔
Thank you @CandyCove ♥
❤❤❤
Thanks everyone for the medals!! I'm glad there are people who agree with the points I've made. I'll tag some mods so they see this ☺
@Preetha , @iambatman , @ganeshie8 , @Kainui , @amistre64 , @Abhisar ♥
True.
I am glad you wrote this i completely agree with this @kittiwitti1 nicely written.
Thank you @pooja195 (:
I like reading things like these :)
I'm glad to have made you happy, @Studybird123 ^-^
:) Yep Good Luck with your plans!
But you gotta remember mods are simply volunteers they aren't on all the time so it is best if everyone just tries to kep peace. Mods do have alts and so do ambis and other users. So I disagree with this: "I believe the only ones who have the right to do that are moderators, people with high SS (and haven't been repeatedly banned from the site), OR people who don't speak condescendingly because they think "[they] know better" than I do about the OpenStudy Code of Conduct." Users who are fairly new know the rules and I've even seen some trying to keep peace. If someone informs you that you broke the rules just stay calm and go with the flow and if you want to rant to someone about it my message box is always open ;p
Ah, yeah I said "and" at first, realized that was dumb so I changed it haha As long as they are not trying to shove their weight around I think it doesn't matter what their SS is. I just don't want rude people
So the options I proposed are just to minimize drama and rude behavior on this site really. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I'll go change that right away ^-^;
If you felt someone was being rude to you simply acknowledge what they are saying and call it a day B)
True. I think I'll just do something about it only if they keep chasing me. e_e
If that's the case you can say this: I appreciate your help in telling me that i'm breaking the rules however I would just appreciate if you report me and let a mod deal with the issue in the future . I truly do appreciate your help, but I feel a mod should know about my "offences" and take proper actions against me if I am breaking the rules. Thanks in advance.
Yes, that works @pooja195 thank you very much ♥ ^^
I would give another medal, but I can't. :'(
I don't need medals I just want you to understand that there are solutions to the problem! So no worries ^_^ and you're welcome :D
I totally agree. @ILovePuppiesLol
@okdutchman7 ?
@kittiwitti1 This is very well written and honestly relate-able both for the new user's that join the site, and even those that have been on the site long enough. :) I wish everyone could read this because I have seen to much egotistical bullying going on in regards to the fact that someone may have not followed a rule or someone did some sort of offense. There is a way to deal with these problems efficiently and civil-like without being a big pain. We all could learn from this post and I'd even include myself. Thank you again!
