Can somebody help me with this problem by explaining the steps to solve it please: Jack is a car salesman who works strictly on commission. For every car he sells, he earns a 2% commission. Cars sell for $35,000 each. How many cars does Jack need to sell in order to reach his target income of $5,000 for the end of the month?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Start from the end. He wants to earn $5,000. He earns a certain amount per car he sells. If you can find out how much he earns per car, then you divide $5,000 by how much he earns per car and that will tell you how many cars he needs to sell. Do you follow so far?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Now the next step is to calculate how much he earns per car he sells. Each car sells for $35,000. He earns 2% of the sale price for each car he sells. That means he earns 2% of 35,000 for each car he sells. Now you need to calculate 2% of $5,000. That tells you how much he earns per car he sells. Then divide $5,000 by the amount he earns per car he sells.

Do you know how to find 2% of $35,000?
