Still in Math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty sure this is the Geometry section

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

#2: Remember there is no retricein geometry (should be easy to remember)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would it be "neither apply?"

OpenStudy (anthonyym):

OMG I put A S S and it changed it to retricein. I meant there is no A S S postulate. Yes it's neither

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I hit geometry under find more subjects.

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

Your still in math.

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Refreshed twice, I don't know why it shows on both sides.

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

???

OpenStudy (xxstudyingstuffxx):

You probably posted it in both and didn't close this one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I closed the one in Math when you said it's in wrong section.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

not to sound rude, but you should post questions one at a time @asadstep that way you can focus on each problem step by step and not have things cluttered up. Ideally you should have one problem per post

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

did you want to start at #2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got that one. It's neither apply. Need help on others.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

#2 is not `neither apply`

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

They state `suppose angle CBA = angle DEA`

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

see attached

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhh would it be "both apply" then?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`angle CBA = angle DEA` is given in the sentence `angle BAC = angle EAD` is given by the visual marker in the drawing you can use those two statements to conclude that `angle BCA = angle EDA`

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

how? well if we know 2 pairs of angles of a triangle are congruent, then the third pair must be congruent as well proof: Let's have two triangles with the first triangle having angles a,b,c. The second triangle will have angles d,e,f. By definition a+b+c = 180 d+e+f = 180 suppose a=d and b = e, this means d+e+f = 180 turns into a+b+f = 180. Solve for f to get f = 180 - a-b. We can solve the first equation for c to get c = 180 - a-b. That proves c = f.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`ahhh would it be "both apply" then?` no @asadstep you can't use SSS because we don't know if `AB = AE` is true or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmm, alright, then it has to be "by SAS only!"

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Awesome, should I post the next question on different post?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

see attached for more (visual) info why SAS works

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

`Awesome, should I post the next question on different post?` yes please
