A student is trying to solve the set of two equations given below: Equation A: x + z = 6 Equation B: 2x + 4z = 1 Which of the following is a possible step used in eliminating the z-term? Multiply equation B by 4. Multiply equation A by 2. Multiply equation A by −4. Multiply equation B by 2.
@kenziedawn
to eliminate the z term, one equation would have to have - 4z, and the other would have to have 4z...the opposite. so what could u multiply to make this happen ?
i would say the second one sorry if it is wrong
2 texas
if u multiplied A by 2, u would get 2z...this cannot be eliminated
@texaschic101 is right ! It must be multiplied by -4
but if u multiplied A by - 4....you would have 4z and - 4z...this can be eliminated
ok so c?
yes
ok thanks
