How did the Fugitive Slave Act and the Kansas-Nebraska Act further divide the North and South? What role did the concept of popular sovereignty play in these conflicts? Do you think there was any way to avoid the violence that came out of this era?

its fine. thanks anyway

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Slaves would be put back in the south if they ran up to the north. People in the north did not like how a slave could leave and then be taken from homes they built in the north. Some were free men that the south claimed were slaves, and were taken to plantations. Overall, the north hated slavery and the south desperately needed it. So, thats what helped kick up the civil war. I think violence was needed, because words were not getting across.
