OpenStudy (lpgv278):

Which of the following statements best explains the difference between literal and figurative language? (4 points) Literal language is the dictionary meaning; figurative language is a secondary, more emotional meaning. Literal language is spoken language, whereas figurative language is written language. Literal language is used in the business world; figurative language is used when discussing figures in math courses. Literal language depends on the audience's experiences; figurative language does not require any interpretation.

Answer me please!!!!

OpenStudy (scooby6363):

Literal definition = Should be interpreted exactly how it is worded. Figurative definition = Used to create some sort of imagery in the reader and help give details on the current feelings of a character, however it means something completely different than what the actual words mean. Example: "I have butterflies in my stomach" Literal Definition = You currently have multitude of butterflies that are nesting in your stomach. Nice work. Figurative Definition = You are nervous for something. Try to match up my own definitions (I did not read any of the multiple choice problems) with the definitions given to you. Tell me your answer if you understand.
