In what ways can horizontal, vertical, and oblique asymptotes be identified?

@agent0smith

myininaya (myininaya):

oblique aka slant asymptotes can happen in rationals where the degree of the top is one more than the degree of the bottom and can be computed by finding the limit as x goes to -/+ inf vertical asymptotes can be found in a rational by finding when the bottom is 0 (those these could be holes instead of vertical asymptotes) So if you get the limit as x approaches some number is -/+ inf then you have a vertical asymptote at that number. horizontal asymptotes can be determined by finding the limit as x goes to -/+ inf... There are some short cuts here to determining the horizontal asymptotes. Do you have a particular problem?

No, that's good. Thank you! :)
