need help with some math homework

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please post your problem

OpenStudy (genralduck):

1, what is a simpler form of the expression (2n^2+3n+3)(4n-5)

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Put the like terms together to start.

OpenStudy (genralduck):

so 3n and 4n become 7n?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

I believe they'd be multiplied because they're in parentheses.

OpenStudy (genralduck):

ok so they become 12n

rebeccaxhawaii (rebeccaxhawaii):

you would foil except you have more terms

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Right 12n, then do the negative terms.

OpenStudy (genralduck):

the only negative term i see is the -5

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

My bad multiply the -5 by the positive 3.

OpenStudy (genralduck):

ok then you have -15

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Then there's nothing else you can do so put them in parentheses and there's the answer.

OpenStudy (genralduck):

ok so the answer is (2n^2+12n-15)?

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Correct because there's nothing else you can put together because nothing else has like terms.

OpenStudy (genralduck):

ok, thanks for the help, here's a medal

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Do you understand?

OpenStudy (genralduck):

yes i do

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Anymore questions?

OpenStudy (genralduck):

nope, that's all i had trouble with

OpenStudy (dmezzullo):

Alright, have a great night!

OpenStudy (genralduck):

you too, bye
