Which were factors in the United States' failure to achieve its goals in Vietnam? Choose all answers that are correct. A. The United States did not study Vietnamese history or ask enough questions. B. The United States supported corrupt leaders in Vietnam. C. The United States estimated that the war would cost much more money and time than it really did. D. The United States entered the war in order to make Vietnam a U.S. colony.
A and B.
@Anaise
Why A and B?
The US entered the Vietnam War in an attempt to prevent the spread of Communism, because Vietnam was led by a communistic leader.
Therefor B is...?
Wouldn't it be C?
So just A and D. Because B clearly is wrong from the information you gave me.
I thought C, but okay xD
Not just C though*
C... I believe not quite... :/
So just A and D, @abbyanna101?
"Following the Japanese defeat, THE FRENCH returned to take possession of THEIR COLONY. Their entrance into Vietnam was only permitted by the Viet Minh after assurances had been given that the country would gain independence as part of the French Union."
But C wouldn't make all the more sense... :/
You are right, c is also incorrect, so there is only one option left.
So only A? :/ Just 1 answer? :/
I believe so. The other options don't make sense. Are you allowed to only select one answer?
I can select all the answers if need be. :P
Oh hold on, I just found information relating to B.
"A year after the Geneva Accords, Prime Minister Diem commenced a “Denounce the Communists” campaign in the south. Throughout the summer of 1955, communists and other oppositionists were jailed and executed. In addition to attacking the communists, Diem assaulted Buddhist sects and organized crime, which further alienated the largely Buddhist Vietnamese people and eroded his support. Despite this, the US actively supported the Diem regime as a buttress against Ho Chi Minh’s communist forces in the north. In 1957, a low-level guerrilla movement began to emerge in the south, conducted by Viet Minh units that had not returned north after the accords."

Thanks! :)
I'm just gonna go with A still though. :)
