if k/2=5, then k=10 reflexive property symmetric property multiplication property of equality subtraction property of equality

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You start with \(\dfrac{k}{2} = 5\) You want to end up with \(k = 10\) In an equation, you are allowed to do the same operation to both sides (except for the big "no-no", dividing by zero). Which operation was used on both sides to change k/5 to just k and to change 5 into 10?

OpenStudy (44691):

still dont get it uggh

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Can you think of an operation you do to 5 that the result is 10?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Look at k/2. k is being divided by 2. What operation do you do to a number to undo a division? Which operation is the opposite of division?

OpenStudy (44691):

thanks but already did it. :)
